The Advantages and Disadvantages of Petrol Lawn Mowers

There are three main types of petrol lawn mowers, the rotary mowers, cylinder or reel mowers and ride on lawn mowers and even with the environmental issues associated with tools that are run on petrol, these mowers continue to be a favorite of gardeners and landscape professionals. There are several reasons for this and the fact that they are very efficient machines is just one of many.

One major advantage of these mowers that run on petrol is the freedom of movement that comes with them. Since they are not electric and not tied to any cord, they are easy to move from one end of the lawn to another. This is particularly important for medium to large sized lawns that you have the flexibility of a cordless lawn mower.

Another advantage of these mowers and the chief reason why they are still in such high demand is the fact that they are really reliable. Even though they require regular maintenance, it is possible to use one of these for several years without the need for replacement. As they are usually for heavy use since they are more powerful than the electric mowers, this is even more remarkable which is probably why landscaping professionals and professional gardeners are loyal to them.

Petrol lawn mowers come in several brands and sizes and the variety is a huge incentive for purchase. This is due to the fact that they might be slightly pricier than other mowers, but is usually one for every budget. It is just a matter of finding the brand and the size. This wide range of choice makes it a favorite among users.

There are some disadvantages with these mowers such as the cost of petrol and the problem of mowing tight corners and edges. The noise from these mowers should also be taken into consideration as they are noisier than electric lawn mowers for instance. However, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. They make it easier to mow the lawn with less energy and in less time. These machines also need regular servicing and sometimes parts need to be replaced to keep the mower in tip top condition that will last you for years.

Petrol lawn mowers are mowers that stand the test of time. They are reliable and durable and will be a great addition to your gardening arsenal. They are versatile and because of some clever engineering they make your life much easier.

Petrol lawn mowers can serve you for a long time if you treat it right and look after it.

Chainsaw Use For The Woodturner

Very quickly, woodturners learn that one of the difficulties of woodturning is the acquiring of wood large enough for faceplate turning. It is both difficult and expensive. However, there is often a good supply of local wood in log form if the means to deal with it are available. A chainsaw makes the handling of logs and their processing into turning blanks readily accessible.

One of the first things to know about a chainsaw is its danger. A chainsaw is one of if not the most dangerous power tools in the woodworker's arsenal. The working part of the saw is a bar covered with a moving cutting chain that is designed to crosscut through hardwood. As such it will not even pause for flesh. In addition it is a simple matter to catch the tip of the bar in such a manner so as to make the saw kick back or jump at the user with amazing speed and power. With this said, there are many people who use a chainsaw day in and day out without problem. While the risk of using any power tool rests with the user, it is a good idea in this case to get instruction from an experienced user before handling the saw on your own.

Petrol Chainsaws come in a variety of types and sizes but for most woodturners there are some simple considerations to think of when buying. Saws are sized by power and bar length. As a general rule subject to all the dangers of generalities, a sixteen inch bar will be long enough for most turners and twelve will be a little short at some point in the woodturning career. Another general rule is to buy the most powerful motor you can afford. It is easier on the user and the saw assuming the weight is also good for the user.

The power source will be either electric or gasoline. Gasoline is more convenient outside the shop but there is a danger form carbon monoxide when running an internal combustion engine indoors not to mention the huge noise from the motor. Electric saws require heavy extension cords and in general cut slower than gas saws, but are quieter and get the job done.

The turner should learn to sharpen and maintain the saw. Chains dull quickly if they hit rocks or nails in the wood and sometimes they touch the ground when cutting logs to length. A chain that hits the ground is dull and needs sharpening. This is not difficult to learn and files for sharpening are cheap. If the saw is kept with the bar oiled and the fuel for a gas saw mixed properly, a routine maintenance check by a good repairman or dealer is all that will be needed for long saw life.

Chainsaws need not be fearful for the woodturner to use and will make the gaining of bowl blanks and the like much easier. Good instruction can make all the difference in the pleasure added to getting ones own wood for woodturning.

Darrell Feltmate is a juried wood turner whose web site, Around the Woods, contains detailed information about wood turning for the novice or experienced turner as well as a collection of turnings for your viewing pleasure. You too can learn to turn wood, here is the place to start. Wondering what it looks like? There are many free videos on the site dealing with everything from sharpening to making a bowl.

There are several wood turning projects fully explained on the web site. In particular, a selection of beginner's projects may be found on the Beginner's Projects page complete with explanation and step by step photos.

The lawnmower of Hayter is made from die-cast aluminum. This is the best material that can effectively resist corrosion. The rust-free aluminum body minimizes the maintenance of the lawnmower and guarantees longer life span.

Lastly, the Harrier 56 model has excellent safety features and it is especially built for efficiency. The Petrol Chainsaw - Always Adhere to Safety Measures

The petrol chainsaw is a useful and very efficient tool to have for sawing down trees, lopping off branches and tidying up the garden or just sawing logs to make them into firewood. But you must consider that if the chainsaw can saw down a tree then it is obviously a very powerful and potentially dangerous tool to use. Whenever I hear the word chainsaw I have visions of that old horror movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But that is to the extreme. A petrol chainsaw is safe to use providing you use common sense and wear the correct protective gear.

The protective clothing you should be wearing are suitable trousers and jacket that allow you to move freely yet offer some form of protection to the body by being of strengthened materials. A head protector of some sort, like the helmets builders wear when on site, are a wise choice to protect against falling branches and other such items that may just drop unrepentantly from the skies. And when actually sawing, to protect your eyes from flying debris or sawdust, a good pair of goggles or face visor is a must. The chainsaw when in full throw can be a noisy creature so to deter any possible damage to your hearing try out some ear plugs or ear protectors. All of these protective items can be purchased from hardware stores or even the place where you bought the chainsaw.

Common sense though you cannot buy from any outlet. When sawing something with the chainsaw try to envisage first where it will land when cut. Always stand aside of this spot. If it is branches of a tree you are lopping off and you need to be in the tree make sure you are stable and secure in your position before even thinking of switching on the chainsaw. And finally never let yourself be distracted when operating the chainsaw. Even if you are working together with a friend, keep conversations or any general chit chat until the chainsaw is switched off. Focus and concentration will ensure safe usage of your petrol chainsaw. And last but not least, if you are planning on using a chainsaw it maybe not so wise to watch a video of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre the night before1 There are many other films you could watch instead.

My name is Paul Garnett and I live and work in Sweden.I have a love for the outdoors and most outdoor activities. My home bound hobbies include making web sites. If you are on the search for new petrol chainsaw then check out Petrol Chainsaws. Something else that might interest you in the garden/outdoor tool theme is the Petrol Strimmer.
